Description

Boys and young men affected by child criminal exploitation are at greater risk of being under-recognised within safeguarding systems, often seen as offenders before they are seen as victims. This course translates the central arguments of Dr Nicholas Marsh’s book into a practical, research-grounded programme for practitioners working directly with this group.

Across four highly interactive sessions, participants will move from the conceptual foundations of why boys are less likely to be effectively engaged within safeguarding frameworks, through the practice landscape of CSE and CCE and the intersectional risks boys face, to hands-on tools for participation-led and contextual practice, and finally to embedding change at a practice and policy level. Each session combines short input, case-based discussion, and structured reflective exercises, so that participants leave with tools they can use immediately as well as a stronger conceptual grounding.

Full details of course content available here.

Each session is supported by short reading drawn from Dr Nicholas Marsh’s book Safeguarding Boys and Young Men from Child Criminal Exploitation, a one-page practice tool or worksheet, and a brief reflective exercise. Access to reading materials is included for all participants in this course.
